 The change from a fossil-based to a bio-based economy requires a remarkable amount of effort from society and will change people’s way of life. By taking advantage of and further developing the huge potential of European forests, the changes can be made more efficiently and less dramatically.
European forest producers are prepared to live up to their responsibilities – to meet the challenges head on and bring forth the most efficient solutions.
To achieve the EU commitment of 20% of energy originating from renewable sources, forestbased
biomass must play a leading role. Like today, forest-based biomass will, in 2020, continue to provide the majority of renewable energy input.
